News from the older Colts

The Bank holiday weekend was a busy and successful one for the older colts.

First into the fray on a chilly and damp Sunday were the u19 Thunder on T20 Blast finals day at Epsom. They began with a semi against Ashtead winning by 1 wicket with just 2 balls to spare. Congratulations to the u10 team

Congratulations to the u10 team, winners of the Farnham Festival 8 aside. Called up just the day before, the squad of 6, bolstered by a couple of extras from other teams beat East Molesey, Grayswood and Churt in the pool games. The final against highly rated Valley End was a tense affair but the G boys held their nerve to see them to victory.

At the instigation of our Junior Chairman, the U12s have formed the Chantries Premier League. Comprising Guildford, Horsley and Send, East Molesey, Royal Ascot and Cranleigh, the sides play each other in T20 and 40 overs a side matches.

The U13s March On

Having beaten the Berkshire Champions, Henley by 18 runs in a playoff, G 142 ( Matty 30) Henley 124 ( Henry M 3-27) they travelled to Horsham for their SE decider. Their first match saw Guildford bowl the Sussex champs, Preston Nomads out for 95. They then eased to their target with 7 wickets and 5 overs to spare, Henry M and Harry both 23 no. Surrey v Derbyshire at Woodbridge Rd – August 2nd

The finale of the Guildford cricket festival is on Sunday 2 August when Surrey play Derbyshire in a 50 overs match starting at 1030am.

Once again the junior section will be running the tea tent to raise funds for winter training. All offers of help in the tent and donations will be gratefully received. Congratulation to the U13s

County cup winners after their 42 run victory over Lingfield

Batting first the side got off to a tip and run opening partnership with Will leading the way retiring on 30. Freddie with 19 and Rob an unbeaten 33 kept up the momentum with good support taking them to 141-8.
Lingfield began slowly but a mid innings surge needed a breakthrough and Matty and Henry M with 2 wickets apiece helped by good catching and 2 smart stumpings ...
