Good to see the weather is at last turning a little warmer as the proper season gets underway.
The Under 15s were first into action winning their ECB cup match against Blackheath at a canter – Blackheath 96-5 in 20 overs, G 99-0 in 11 with an unbeaten half century from Will.
The U12s opened with a tense last over victory in their Two Counties match against Farnham but the U9s fell short against Frensham.

The good weather has meant that all the early season friendly matches have been completed. The 1st XI won at Basingstoke and Dorking, but lost narrowly at Beckenham. The Surrey Championship league fixtures start next Saturday, 6th May with local derbies. The 1st XI travel to newly promoted Cranleigh, with the 2nd XI at home against Cranleigh. The Bank holiday weekend was a busy and successful one for the older colts.
First into the fray on a chilly and damp Sunday were the u19 Thunder on T20 Blast finals day at Epsom. They began with a semi against Ashtead winning by 1 wicket with just 2 balls to spare. Ice and rain greeted the first two outdoor training sessions but despite near freezing temperatures the U14 team, including many new faces, started their season by winning a cup! Postponed from September they were crowned the U13 Divisional champs when they overpowered Teddington by 45 runs. Powerful hitting by the middle order and tidy bowling completing the job!
