Following Easing of Lockdown – Plans for Training & Coaching begin

Posted by:

As you will know, on Monday (29 March), the government took the next step on their roadmap out of lockdown. This was an important and exciting one for us, as outdoor sport is now permitted.

We now have ECB guidance on what this means for cricket clubs. We are still working through some aspects, but the headline is that we are comfortable to continue with our intention to get cricket going as planned:

Mon 5th – Thurs 8th April: GCC Easter Camp
Fri 9th April: Weekly junior coaching starts Book your sessions here
Sun 11th April: Weekly U8 coaching starts Book your sessions here

Sat 3rd April: Men’s training (1000 – 1200) Book your session here
Sat 10th April: Men’s (1300 – 1500) & Women’s (1000 – 1200) training Book your session here
Wed 14th April: Women’s weekly training starts Booking link to follow
Thurs 15th April: Men’s weekly training starts Booking link to follow

We will be using the booking system that was in place last year for signing up to training sessions (both juniors & seniors). This ensures we can record who has been using our facilities and will enable Olly and his coaching team to plan ahead – both of which means we can put training on in a safe and secure environment. The booking system will be up and running imminently – we will let you know when you can get on and book yourself in.

Over the coming days we will share more information as to what you can expect to be in place at Woodbridge Road to ensure that we are in line with the ECB guidance and government restrictions. This will also include details from Olly on how you can expect training sessions to look. There is specific guidance on how matches will need to operate – we will provide details on this as we approach games later in April.

We know many of you will be wanting to get down to the ground and practice in the nets etc in your own time, especially with the nice weather expected this week. The guidance allows for this, providing that you do not exceed government restrictions – i.e. the rule of 6 or two households and social distancing maintained. We are keen to enable members to make use of the nets / ground outside of organised training and are working on a means of managing this appropriately. However, for this week please contact Olly (07920043789) to arrange a suitable time to come down when he is around to provide access to the ground – this will primarily be during the daytime this week. He will also provide details on entering the ground and protocols that will need to be followed etc.

Finally – as I have mentioned in previous messages, membership will be crucial to the system working and so please do get subscriptions paid up as soon as you are able to:

Any questions do get in touch.

Many thanks
