Happy New Year to you all, I hope 2022 is a special year for the club!
As Joe indicated in his recent note, we have been finalising the appointment of a Head Coach and I am pleased to be able to share details of that today, along with details on winter senior training that kicks off next week.
Head Coach
I am delighted to say that we are now in a position to announce that former Surrey and England cricketer Jade Dernbach will be our new Senior Head Coach.
This is an exciting addition to the club. His playing career speaks for itself, representing Surrey in 331 professional games and England in 58 international fixtures taking 583 and 70 wickets respectively.
Jade, a former Guildford player himself, wanted to share a few words….
‘Very excited to be heading back to the club in a somewhat different role this time with my coaching hat on. The opportunity to be able come and hopefully add some value to the playing squads throughout the winter and summer to enable Guildford to push for promotion and regain our rightful place in the Prem was an opportunity I couldn’t resist.’
Jade will work alongside myself to make our coaching offering more structured and professional. He will work with both the Men’s and Women’s sides during the winter, however, I will remain the Head Women’s Coach for the summer programme.
Winter Training
Both Senior Men’s and Women’s will start training on Monday 10th January at RGS. These sessions will run from 6-9pm every Monday through to the 21st March (EXCLUDING 14th FEBRUARY).
To ensure that Jade and I can put on the best session possible, it is really important that we have a good idea on the numbers attending, so please make every effort to state your attendance on pitchero where you will see the sessions have been created under ‘training’.
For those who are now an U16 for this season, this is your main coaching offering over the winter, however we will be releasing some more info on further coaching offering for U16-U21s in the coming weeks.
As always, feel free to ask me any questions about any of this.
Many Thanks,
