Latest Recommendations for safer Cricket Helmets
The ECB has recently issued a list of helmets that meet the updated safety standard BS7928:2013.
Their full recommendations and an approved list of manufacturers can be found here: http://www.ecb.co.uk/information/ecb-and-pca-guidance-head-protectorshelmets
Do recreational cricketers need to buy a new helmet as a result of these changes?
No. It will not be mandatory for recreational players to buy a new helmet, but it’s strongly advised that you check the safety standard before making any new purchases.
Helmets should in any event be replaced after they have received a significant impact.
Please note all u18 players must wear helmets whilst batting and if keeping, whilst standing up. There are no exceptions. No parental consent to the non-wearing of a head protector will be accepted.
