Merry Christmas everybody and welcome to our December newsletter.

Guildford Festival 2018

Surrey will host Somerset in the 80th anniversary of the Guildford Cricket Festival next June.

The first-class fixtures from the ECB, released late last month, have brought Woodbridge Road a four-day Specsavers County Championship Division One match starting on Wednesday June 20, although there will be no one-day game.

What might be expected to be the quietest time of year for the club has been buzzing with activity in readiness for next season.

New club captain Tom Collins, who took over from Joe Pipkin in September has enlisted the support of Jeremy Greaves in a new role as first team manager.

Jeremy is a familiar face at the club – he was captain from 2012-2014 before moving to the role of coach, standing down last winter.

Guildford Cricket Club Junior awards, 2017 U11

Congratulations to the u11s who were crowned overall West Surrey Champions having beaten the winners of the other 2 divisions.

They completed their campaign with an emphatic 65 run victory over Chobham. Guildford scored 111-4 in their 20 overs, Lucas and Jacob both retiring on 30. They then skittled out Chobham for 46 with Adam ...

Newsletter August 2017

New Pavilion still not complete

Disapprovingly, construction delays mean that the new Pavilion will not be handed over until early October.

The building contractor and Guildford Borough (which owns the freehold of The Sports Ground under a charitable trust) remain committed to ensuring that the building will be completed to a very high standard and will be a superb facility for Guildford CC Members and the local community.

Junior Section Newsletter – May ’17

Good to see the weather is at last turning a little warmer as the proper season gets underway.

The Under 15s were first into action winning their ECB cup match against Blackheath at a canter – Blackheath 96-5 in 20 overs, G 99-0 in 11 with an unbeaten half century from Will.

The U12s opened with a tense last over victory in their Two Counties match against Farnham but the U9s fell short against Frensham.

Newsletter May 2017

Season underway!

The good weather has meant that all the early season friendly matches have been completed. The 1st XI won at Basingstoke and Dorking, but lost narrowly at Beckenham. The Surrey Championship league fixtures start next Saturday, 6th May with local derbies. The 1st XI travel to newly promoted Cranleigh, with the 2nd XI at home against Cranleigh. Teams playing at Woodbridge Road are using temporary facilities, comprising a large marquee at the Railway End. Spectators are welcome ...

Training is on Fridays for the U9-U15 squads and begins on Friday April 21st at Woodbridge Rd as follows:

On Sundays it’s 10-11.30 for U8s

Girls’ training recommences on Wed 19th from 6.30-8.30. Girls are invited to both Friday & Wednesday sessions.

The Bank holiday weekend was a busy and successful one for the older colts.

First into the fray on a chilly and damp Sunday were the u19 Thunder on T20 Blast finals day at Epsom. They began with a semi against Ashtead winning by 1 wicket with just 2 balls to spare.
