Guildford Cricket Club

A Women’s Cricket Section was formed at the Club in 2002.

The history is that Guildford Women’s Cricket Team was formed when Waverley Ladies Cricket Club joined us en bloc. They had been formed under the aegis of Waverley Council as part of its sports development programme. One of our founder members was involved with Bramley CC (South of Guildford) and that served as our home ground, which is an interesting historical link – the first recorded Ladies Cricket matches were played at Bramley in the 18th century.

Guildford Women’s Cricket has made steady progress on the field. We joined the Women’s Cricket Southern League upon its formation in 2004. In 2007, we won promotion to Division 2. In 2011, we achieved promotion again and will play in the Championship in the WCSL in 2012, which is one level below the ECB Women’s Premier League.

Our Women’s 2nd XI plays in the Surrey Trust Development League, and we also run Girls U-15 and U13 teams.
