Set out below is a brief overview of cricket at Guildford, including:
• Club Ethos
• Scorecards & Statistics
Guildford CC’s Club Ethos sets out what the Club expects of players and how players should conduct themselves. It focuses on five principles, which all players are expected to know and understand:
1. We endeavour to attend training regularly.
2. We always help the captain, umpires and scorers.
3. We play to win every game.
4. We socialise with team mates and the opposition after the game.
5. We appreciate that the Club is more than just playing cricket.
Guildford CC’s Club Coach is Jeremy Greaves. Jeremy’s primary focus is on the development of current and future 1st XI players. The Club also has a number of qualified coaches who assist at training.
Club training is held on Thursday evenings between 18:00 and 20:00 / 20:30 (light permitting). The Club also holds additional training sessions on Tuesday evenings from 18:30, which are specifically targeted at 1st XI squad players and are by invitation only.
The Club’s availability and selection process is managed online via an application called Pitchero. All players wishing to represent Guildford are required to signup with Pitchero and to provide their availability online. Players make themselves available for the Club rather than any given team, and all site administrators (e.g. Captains) have sight of everyone's availability.
To sign up simply follow the link to Clubhouse, go to "Sign up", search for "Guildford Cricket Club”, and select the appropriate site (men’s, ladies’ or juniors’). In summary though, the site will provide you with access to:
1. Homepage – message of the day and upcoming fixtures.
2. Availability – to provide your availability for upcoming fixtures.
3. Directory – a list of all club players' names/contact details.
You can also amend personal details in the top right hand corner ("My Info") and choose which teams to follow to receive availability reminders. Players are required to provide their availability on Clubhouse by 13:00 on the Tuesday immediately preceding the relevant fixture.
Men’s Saturday league teams are selected by the Selection Committee, which is made up of the four Saturday Captains, the Club Coach, and the Team Secretary. Guildford’s other teams are selected by the respective Captain.
All Captains have sight of every player’s availability via Clubhouse. When teams have been selected, the Team Secretary will publish the teams on Clubhouse, which will then be posted on the Dashboard and automatically distributed via email.
The Club aims to post teams on Clubhouse 72 hours before the start of the respective fixture. The Club’s Selection Policy provides guidance to players and captains regarding selection at Guildford CC.
